WAYNE FROM PHILLY
Wednesday night we played in Philadelphia with Blue Rodeo. As some of you may or may not know game 3 of the Stanley Cup final was in Philly that night. Jim Cuddy being the big hockey fan that he is and knowing so many people (players etc.), got a few passes to the morning skate and I was able to go as well. I saw Ron McLean again as well as met Don Cherry, Kelly Rudy, Glen Healy and a whole wack of Canadian sports journalists. We also got to go into the locker rooms where I met Mike Richards, who is the captain of the Flyers. It was an awesome experience to say the least.
The show in Philly was also amazing. It was a great crowd that really responded well to our music. But I have to say the highlight of my day was meeting Don Cherry and having him say ,and I quote "I think I know what your band name means haha but hey, it's a damn good band name!" He also said that he liked the band.
We watch the entire morning skate with Ron and Don. It was an uncensored Hockey Night in Canada. Lots of cool old hockey stories with a little swearing...it ruled!!! A side of two individuals not many people get to see. It was pretty amazing to be a part of it.
Here's a YouTube clip for you. Jim and Greg were in the opening. There is a shot of us at the skate. I'm in the green hat! Ron also gives me and Cuff the Duke another shout out on air.
Well, we're off to New York.

Blue Rodeo/Toronto
All Toronto and area fans: Cuff The Duke have been asked to guest with Blue Rodeo on their 3rd night of 3 at Massey Hall: February 4th. Tickets are still available, but they most likely won't be for long. The bands have been playing together in Western Canada since the tour began in Calgary January 5th, and the shows have been a huge success!
"But the best surprise bonus of the evening was the opening act, Cuff the Duke and their obvious camaraderie and influence from hanging out with the Blue Rodeo while on the road. Their brilliant fresh style was truly their own. Joining Blue Rodeo on stage for the majority of their set was Cuff the Duke’s frontman Wayne Petti who offered powerful vocals alongside Cuddy’s and had guitar skills to match."
"The encore was the ultimate ending as both bands combined to deliver an unforgettable close to an audience who was on their feet and left feeling very happily ‘Lost Together’ with Blue Rodeo and Cuff the Duke."

Cuff the Duke on eTalk
Hello Friends!
Back in August Paul and I went out to Oshawa to film a piece for eTalk. We drove around town talking about the city we grew up in and our new record.
It will be airing this Thursday at 7pm EST. I'm pretty sure that eTalk airs after the CTV news right across the country.
Hopefully it turned out cool and we didn't make Oshawa look bad or anything.
If you're by a T.V. try to check it out.
Cheers,
Wayne

Also, there will be a limited run of clear and red coloured vinyl 7" with 2 extra tracks available in various cool indie stores.
"The rustic recording locale of Greg Keelor's farmhouse in January is reflected in the generally mellow and contemplative feel of this, the fourth Cuff The Duke album. It's decidedly quieter than 2007's Sidelines Of The City, and is also a more stylistically focused work. It begins with the sweet CSNY-style harmonies of "You Were Right" and closes with a pleasant two-minute instrumental. Sandwiched in between are consistently strong songs built around the distinctive vocals of Wayne Petti and the fluent pedal steel and electric guitar work of Dale Murray. Vocal harmonies and keyboards are also employed judiciously. There's not a dud here, while highlights include "It's All A Blur" (propelled by spiraling Neil Young-like guitar), the gently haunting "Like The Morning," and the more raucous "Another Day In Purgatory." Recording largely off-the-floor and to tape, the sound is warm and spontaneous, one sure to delight CTD's legions of loyal fans, and worthy of making new ones.
Out September 8th on Noble Recording Co./Universal."
